CALABASAS, CA — AmaWaterways has revealed the first details and renderings of AmaRudi, a new double-width river ship slated to debut on the Danube River in spring 2027.
The vessel will become the company’s second double-width river ship, following the launch of AmaMagna in 2019. AmaRudi will join its sister ship as the largest river cruise ship in Europe.
Designed to accommodate 196 guests in 98 staterooms and suites, the vessel will feature expanded public spaces, multiple dining venues and enhanced wellness amenities. The ship’s design draws inspiration from the destinations, cities and cultures found along the Danube.
HONOURING A RIVER CRUISE PIONEER
AmaRudi also marks a first for the company, becoming the first vessel in AmaWaterways’ history to be named after a man. The ship honours co-founder and Chairman Rudi Schreiner, who was born and raised near Austria’s Danube River.
“More travellers are making the transition from ocean cruising to rivers, and many are looking for a sense of space and choice. AmaMagna was one of the most rewarding projects of my career, so having this new ship carry my name makes it especially meaningful. I see it as part of the legacy we have built together over more than two decades of river cruising,” said Schreiner.

DINING, WELLNESS & ENTERTAINMENT
Dining will be a central component of the onboard experience, with venues including the main Journey’s Restaurant, The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, al fresco dining options and Rudi’s Wine Bar, which is inspired by Schreiner’s passion for wine and European culture.
AmaWaterways said guests will also have access to its enhanced dining program, including complimentary beer, soft drinks and a curated selection of more than 30 wines during lunch and dinner. New Italian lunch menus will be offered in The Chef’s Table, while a Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck will provide an additional dining option.
The ship’s wellness facilities will include massage treatment rooms, hair and nail services, a fitness centre and relaxation spaces. Wellness Hosts will lead fitness classes and wellness programming both onboard and ashore.
AmaRudi will also feature a full-sized pickleball court on the Sun Deck.

For entertainment, the ship will debut a new venue developed exclusively for AmaRudi. The space will serve as a social hub and include a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox. Soundproofing measures have been incorporated throughout the venue to maintain guest comfort.
“THE FUTURE OF RIVER CRUISING”
As with all new AmaWaterways vessels, sustainability has been integrated into the ship’s design. AmaRudi will feature Stage V engines, solar panels, shore power connectivity, spud poles and lightweight construction materials intended to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
“AmaRudi reflects our confidence in the future of river cruising and our continued commitment to innovation,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. “From the moment AmaMagna launched, travellers and travel advisors have been asking if we would ever build another ship like her. With AmaRudi, we’re taking that concept even further. There is tremendous opportunity to continue pushing the boundaries of what a river cruise ship can be while preserving the exceptional service and intimate experience that have defined our company for more than two decades.”

AmaRudi is scheduled to begin sailing on the Danube River in spring 2027, operating several of AmaWaterways’ most popular itineraries. Additional details about accommodations, onboard experiences and booking information are expected to be released in the coming months.
