Intrepid launches new brand extension of community-focused hotels

TORONTO — Intrepid Travel has launched Stay Intrepid, a new accommodation brand extension featuring a collection of six experience-led properties designed around community connection and responsible travel principles.

The new portfolio includes five signature properties across Australia and one riad in Morocco, all of which can be booked independently of Intrepid tours. The company plans to expand the portfolio to as many as 20 properties globally by 2028.

The collection reflects the company’s locally led approach to travel, with a focus on supporting local businesses, celebrating regional culture and creating positive community impact through partnerships with The Intrepid Foundation.

The current Stay Intrepid portfolio includes:

  • Daintree Ecolodge: Located in Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest, this property partners with Rainforest Rescue, an organization that has planted more than 350,000 trees to help restore the rainforest.
  • Edge of the Bay: Situated on the shores of Coles Bay in Tasmania, this family-run property connects guests to Palawa Country, partnering with Greening Australia to help rebuild ecosystems across the country through large-scale restoration.
  • Arkaba Homestead: Set on Adnyamathanha Country in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, this intimate Outback stay hosts just 10 guests, offering immersive walks and conservation-led safaris.
  • Bamarru Plains: Located on Limilngan Country in the Northern Territory in Australia, this safari-style wilderness lodge features airboat safaris and bird-watching tours.
  • Ooraminna Homestead: Located just outside Alice Springs, this outback stay features elevated accommodation and star-filled nights to bring community and storytelling together.
  • Riad Joudour: Tucked within the historic Marrakech medina in Morocco, this intimate guesthouse partners with Amal Association, which provides culinary training to help women in the country improve their livelihoods, with a cooking class offered on the property.

“Stay Intrepid represents an exciting next step in our ambition to bring immersive travel experiences to more people around the world. It opens up new opportunities to create stays that are experience-led and rooted in community, aligning with our mission to create positive change through the joy of travel,” said Richmond Sear, General Manager of Accommodation Australia at Intrepid Travel.

“By working closely with people and partners in each destination, we’ve developed unique experiences that deepen travellers’ connection with nature and local culture, while providing an exceptional base for exploration and relaxation,”
