Porter gets CTA approval for D.R., Aruba and Barbados

TORONTO — Porter Airlines has received scheduled international licenses to operate flights to the Dominican Republic, Aruba and Barbados.

The Canadian Transportation Agency has given the green light for all three of the license applications.

Porter’s growth strategy, first announced in summer 2021 with the first of many orders for its E195-E2 jet aircraft, has seen the airline expand far beyond Canada and the U.S., with longer-haul destinations in Western Canada, the U.S. and sun gateways.

Porter received its 50th E195-E2 aircraft in December 2025. Porter has firm orders for 75 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional 25, potentially bringing its fleet up to 100 E2s.

The airline’s strategy includes extending its elevated economy experience into southern vacation sunshine markets, launching 13 new routes to five popular destinations for the 2025-2026 season – Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia (Costa Rica) – from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Hamilton airports.

Earlier this week, Porter also debuted the brand new terminal at MET in Montreal, with 12 new Canadian routes from YHU taking off starting this June.
