CALGARY — WestJet has reached a new milestone in connectivity, celebrating the installation of WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS on its 100th aircraft.
The airline now boasts the world’s largest fleet of 737 aircraft equipped with Starlink technology, marking a major step forward in in-flight innovation and passenger experience.
“We’re entering a new era of inflight internet in Canada, giving our guests the power to unlock world-class connectivity from 35,000 feet,” said Samantha Taylor, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer. “This is a real game-changer for our guests, and we are proud to be the only airline in Canada offering this cutting-edge technology on its mainline fleet.”
WestJet Wi-Fi, presented by TELUS, is free for WestJet Rewards members. Delivered by Starlink, the rollout of high-speed and ultra-low latency Starlink connectivity began in February 2025 and has progressed faster than expected. WestJet plans to complete installation across all Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 MAX aircraft by the end of the year.
Taylor noted that guest response to the new service has been overwhelmingly positive, with travellers sharing their experiences online. “Since installation began, we have been hearing from guests how they love the connectivity,” she said. “We love to see those posts and want to see more!”
To mark the milestone of the 100th installation, WestJet is celebrating throughout October by encouraging guests on both WestJet and Sunwing flights to share their in-flight Wi-Fi experience. Some lucky travellers may even receive surprise WestJet points or complimentary flights as part of the promotion.
