Switzerland launches new campaign directed at Canadians

TORONTO — With its reopening in full swing, Switzerland has launched a new promotional campaign in Canada to entice Canadians to book travel now.

Running from March 31 to June 30, 2022, the campaign features Canadian travel and TV personality Jean-Michel Dufaux who highlights the destination’s best experiences and offerings. From the Canton of Bern, known for hiking and biking, and the Lake Lucerne Region with its centuries-old sights, to Ticino’s quaint alleyways and historic churches, Basel’s modern architecture, and the Valais Matterhorn region’s excellent wine and majestic peaks, Switzerland is unmatched in its landscapes, natural beauty and outdoor adventures.

“Fully vaccinated Canadians can travel to Switzerland and immediately enjoy the Swiss Alps, our boutique towns and our four language regions,” says Pascal Prinz, Director for Switzerland Tourism in Canada. “No tests and no quarantine are required, neither for your departure nor for your return.”

Switzerland reopened to fully vaccinated Canadians on June 26, 2021. In February 2022, the destination lifted just about all of its COVID-19 restrictions, including the required Swiss COVID Certificate and Passenger Locator Form.

According to Prinz, SWISS/Lufthansa Group and Air Canada are ramping up their flight schedules this summer to 95% of 2019, offering direct flights and deals to Zurich and Geneva from Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.

Prinz added that Switzerland Tourism remains “a fully committed partner to Canada,” and continues to support travel agents and tour operators, particularly through this new campaign, its biggest in years. As part of the campaign, the organization has partnered in English-speaking Canada with various tour operators such as Goway, and in Quebec with Tours Chanteclerc.

“We understand the tremendous value of travel advisors and are therefore organizing the first Switzerland Travel Experience in Canada,” said Prinz. “We look forward to finally meeting our great partners in person in Montreal on May 30, in Toronto on June 1, and in Vancouver on June 2.”
