Lynx Air launches free flights contest ahead of 2022 debut

CALGARY — Canada’s newest airline, Lynx Air, is offering free flights ahead of its launch later this year.

As part of its Free Flights for a Year contest, two grand prize winners will win one roundtrip flight per month to any Lynx destination for 12 months, while five additional winners will each receive one roundtrip flight to anywhere in Lynx’s network. Flights will be onboard Lynx’s fleet of brand new Boeing 737 aircraft.

The contest runs from Jan. 14 until Jan. 18, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. MT. Single roundtrip winners will be drawn every day at 9:00 a.m. MT for the duration of the contest. The Grand Prize winners will be drawn on Jan. 21. All winners will be contacted via email.

Lynx will officially open bookings for flights on Jan. 19, 2022.

“We are excited to be giving away free flights for a year to two lucky Canadians in keeping with Lynx’s missions to make air travel more accessible to all,” said Merren McArthur, CEO, Lynx Air. “The contest itself will be a bit of fun with some trivia questions to answer as we count to down to the first day of ticket sales on Wednesday, Jan. 19.”

The contest is open to all residents of Canada who have reached the age of maturity in their province/territory of residence at the time of submission.

Lynx Air first announced its plans to launch as Canada’s newest ultra-low-cost carrier in November 2021. Upon its debut sometime this year, it will offer basic discount fares with additional services like checked bags and cancellations available at an extra charge. Details on routes, schedules and pricing have yet to be announced, though according to McArthur the airline will begin with domestic routes before expanding to transborder and international service. A total of 46 aircraft are in the pipeline over the next seven years, including three Boeing 737s coming in early 2022.
