TruTravels introduces affordable Maldives trips for young travellers

TORONTO — TruTravels has added Maldives to its destination portfolio following the “changing habits” of young travellers post-pandemic.

The social adventure specialist, which was acquired by G Adventures in 2018 but runs as a separate entity, has unveiled two new trips – one Classic land-based tour and one Sail/Ventures water-based tour – departing from January 2022. These trips include accommodation, some meals (all meals while sailing, some on land), activities and a dedicated ‘Tru Ninja’ tour guide throughout the trip. Guests will experience everything from sandbar parties and a barbecue dinner on a private island, to snorkelling with turtles and spending time at a local conservation project.

The two new trips join TruTravels’ current portfolio of 40 tours in 16 countries across Asia, South America and Europe, and include the following:

  • Maldives Island Hopper: Priced from $2,330 per person, this eight-day trip departs from Jan. 23, 2022
  • Maldives Sailing Adventure: Priced from $3,410 per person, this eight-day adventure departs from Jan. 16, 2022

There’s so much more to the Maldives than white sand beaches and luxury resorts – it’s an incredible place for a young group of people to connect with the local culture and with each other,” says Mark Pope, TruTravels co-founder. “Our travellers are starving for social connections right now so we’re stoked to be able to bring them all that goodness in one of the most spectacular locations in the world.”

TruTravels previously launched in Canada in April 2021, announcing that for the time since its inception in 2012 that it is now selling via the Canadian trade. Pope told Travelweek at the time that now was a good opportunity for agents to sell to younger travellers.

Thanking Canadian travel agents for a successful launch, Pope says: “We were thrilled to onboard so many awesome Canadian travel agents. We’re going to keep bringing you fantastic experiences for younger Canadian travellers desperate to flex their passports and get back out there to see the world. These new Maldives trips are just the beginning.”

TruTravels offers four different travel styles: the ‘Classic’ style of small-group social adventures; ‘FitVentures,’ which caters to travellers seeking fitness-focused and well-being experiences; ‘Flashpacker,’ featuring private accommodation with a splash of style; and ‘SailVentures,’ which combines exploration and action with ‘floatilla’ parties.
