Windstar’s reimagined Star Legend is sailing once again

SEATTLE — Windstar Cruises’ all-suite Star Plus Class Star Legend yacht sailed out of Lisbon today, marking its debut as Windstar’s latest reimagined ship.

Star Legend’s 10-day voyage will stop at Portimão, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Málaga, Cartagena, and Palma de Mallorca before arriving in Barcelona.

Windstar’s three all-suite Star Plus Class yachts (Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride) have been undergoing major transformations, with Star Breeze as the first to launch in June showcasing new suites and expanded outdoor and indoor public spaces. The multi-million dollar Star Plus Initiative to lengthen and upgrade the three ships was first announced in November 2018.

Star Legend is the second of the three yachts to emerge from Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard following the stretch and transformation project.

The yachts are also more environmentally friendly with efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems.

All three yachts have increased in maximum capacity — from 212 guests to 312 — and offer additional dining experiences (including an outdoor barbecue concept, and also a Spanish small plates restaurant) as well as true spa and fitness centres, infinity pools, and more outdoor deck areas.

Five of the line’s six yachts are now back in the water. In March 2021 Windstar announced mandatory proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for all passengers.
