WestJet now flying Calgary-Portland, Halifax-Dublin nonstops

CALGARY — WestJet’s new daily nonstop flights between Portland (PDX) and Calgary are now underway, along with new six times weekly nonstop service between Halifax and Dublin.

The Calgary-Portland flights are the first-ever WestJet-scheduled service to and from Portland.

“This nonstop flight between Calgary and Portland is the latest example of WestJet’s investment in our home in Calgary,” says Arved von zur Muehlen, WestJet Chief Commercial Officer. “This new flight provides travellers in Western Canada and Northwestern U.S. more options to get to fantastic destinations for both business and leisure. We are thrilled to be part of strengthening these ties between two important locations.”

WestJet’s nonstop flight to Calgary allows for access to its western Canadian network where the airline will operate 145 daily flights from Calgary to 54 destinations including Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Saskatoon, Regina, Atlanta, Nashville, New York, London, Paris and Dublin.

WestJet operates more flights to more destinations from Calgary than any other airline. WestJet’s codeshare partner, Delta, also offers travellers from Calgary the opportunity to connect to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Seattle and Salt Lake City International Airport out of Portland.

Meanwhile the carrier’s Halifax-Dublin flights reinforces its commitment to investing in Halifax as an Atlantic gateway to Europe, says von zur Muehlen. “WestJet continues to support the efforts of the government of Nova Scotia to enhance trade, tourism and grow economies in the province and the UK. To our guests on both sides of the Atlantic, go raibh maith agat, thank you.”

WestJet has served the city of Halifax since 2003 and has seen 160% growth in flights to and from Halifax Stanfield. This summer the airline will operate nonstop service to 15 cities with an average of 28 departures per day from Halifax.

WestJet has operated to Dublin, Ireland since 2015 and on June 1 will bring one of its first three Dreamliner aircraft to the city with nonstop service from Calgary.
