Virgin Voyages says it’s going to “make ship happen” with Facebook Live feed March 22

MIAMI — Travel agents are invited to follow the action on Facebook Live on March 22 as Virgin Voyages President and CEO Tom McAlpin joins Fincantieri in Genoa, Italy for a steel cutting celebration and an update on the company’s plans. “Sparks are bound to fly!” says the company.

Steel cutting ceremonies are routine in the cruise industry but Virgin is known for its high-energy PR stunts and this March 22 event should be no different. The feed starts at 2 p.m. EDT at Virgin Voyages’ official Facebook page: facebook.com/virginvoyages/

Virgin Voyages launched its name and logo in Miami in October 2016 complete with a theatrical performance where Virgin Group Founder Branson appeared with two performers who danced on deck chairs.

Virgin Voyages has signed on for three vessels. Virgin Voyages’ first ship is scheduled to debut in 2020, hosting more than 2,700 passengers and 1,150 crew. For the first ship, Virgin Voyages will offer a range of Caribbean itineraries to ports that deliver “unique and very social experiences”. See virginvoyages.com.
