ATLANTA — Virgin Atlantic is accelerating the rollout of high-speed inflight connectivity, announcing plans to expand Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, with full implementation expected by 2027.
The airline will begin installing Starlink on its Airbus A350 fleet starting in May, with all A350 aircraft expected to be equipped by early summer. The first customer flight featuring the new connectivity is scheduled to operate in early May on the VS153 service between London Heathrow Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Following the A350 rollout, installations will extend to the Boeing 787 fleet in the second half of 2026, with the Airbus A330neo expected to complete installations in 2027. By the end of 2026, the airline anticipates that approximately two-thirds of its fleet will be equipped with the service.
“Together with Starlink, we’re setting a new standard for connectivity in the skies, with fast, free, high-speed Wi-Fi available from the moment customers step onboard,” said Juha Jaervinen, Chief Customer Officer, Virgin Atlantic. “It’s all part of creating a truly connected, ‘home away from home’ experience, giving customers the freedom to use their time onboard exactly as they choose, whether that’s staying close to work, to plans, or to the people who matter most.”
Virgin Atlantic first announced its partnership with Starlink in July 2025, becoming the first UK airline to commit to free, fleetwide Wi-Fi powered by the low Earth orbit satellite network. The technology is designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet access, including in remote areas, enabling a more consistent onboard connectivity experience.
The service will be offered free of charge to Flying Club members. Travellers will be able to stream content, browse the internet, work remotely, shop online, play games and stay connected with friends and family throughout their journey. The platform will also support multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptops.
