Verstraete’s tour marks 75th anniversary of liberation of Holland

AURORA, ON — In May 2020 Verstraete Travel is offering a special tour marking the 75th liberation anniversary of the Netherlands.

The tour, organized by Verstraete Travel’s Owner and President Baldwin Verstraete, departs on May 1 and returns on May 11, 2020. It’s billed as “not just a tour but a time of commemoration and celebration.”

The price is $1,375 per person and includes all the special events in Holland. Taxes/fuel charges are an additional $595.

Canadians are guaranteed a warm and appreciative welcome in Holland, says Verstraete. The Dutch have always considered the Canadian veterans as their ‘liberators’ and that sentiment remains extremely strong to this day.

To make it even more special, he adds, for the first time, both children and grandchildren of the liberators are also invited to stay with a Dutch host family.

An optional hotel stay is available at additional cost.

More details plus a brochure and booking form are available at verstraetetravel.com.

Verstraete says he’s also pleased to announce, ‘In Our Fathers’ Footsteps’, a pilgrimage tour led by Karen Hunter taking place April 29 – May 11, 2020.

Hunter is the daughter of a WWII veteran/Holland liberator and she invites all veterans’ descendants to join her on the trip. She and the group will walk 60 kilometres of researched routes of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Canadian Divisions as well as attend ceremonies, remembrances, and liberation festivals, in May 2020 in the Netherlands.

A special highlight will be walking into Het Loo Palace in Apeldoorn where they’ll be met by HRH Princess Margriet of the Netherlands.
