“This is the second summer amid the pandemic, and it looks a lot different compared to summer 2020,” says Travelweek’s Publisher, Devin Kinasz. “The third wave is holding on in some regions of Canada, but showing signs of starting to wane in others. Canada’s vaccination rollout is gaining momentum by the week, and close to 50% of Canadians have received at least their first dose. Other destinations around the world start to reopen to travel. We’re hearing from travel agents that forward bookings are strong, however financial aid programs from the federal government are set to begin winding down. Even as Canada’s overall situation amid the pandemic is starting to look a little brighter, the travel industry is still facing very real challenges.”

Adds Kinasz: “We’re honoured to have such an incredible group of keynote speakers for ‘Future of Travel: Sunnier Days Ahead’, ready to share their thoughts on the recovery of this great industry.”

Today’s ‘Future of Travel: Sunnier Days Ahead’ online event is the fourth instalment in Travelweek’s Future of Travel series of virtual conferences.

  • Gustavo Segura, Minister of Tourism, Costa Rica
