TORONTO — Trafalgar has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to celebrate the tour operator’s 2017 Asia program with trade events in Halifax and Calgary.

Travel partners and valued agents in both cities were invited to attend a special Thai cooking demo and a ‘Be My Guest’ meal, which also included prize giveaways. The Halifax and Calgary demos are two of the latest nationwide events launched as a result of the long-standing relationship between Trafalgar and Thailand.

“We are delighted again to be partnering with The Tourism Authority of Thailand along with Kayla’s support to celebrate our 2017 Asia brochure with our ever expanding program,” said Wolf Paunic, president of Trafalgar Canada. “Thailand is a spectacular destination and we are so pleased to host an authentic Thai experience for our trade partners and media in Calgary and Halifax.”

According to Paunic, studies show that 35% of Canadians would travel primarily for culinary tourism, while over half of Canadians consider food and beverage when making their destination choices. “It’s important to us to celebrate the culinary experiences our itineraries offer since Thailand has successfully attracted repeat Canadian clients year over year,” he added.

Trafalgar’s ‘Treasures of Thailand’ itinerary include a ‘Be My Guest’ experience in Chiang Mai featuring a lunch with a local family in their stilt house, a cooking class with a Local Specialist, a visit to a coconut palm sugar plantation, and a shopping trip to the famous floating fruit and vegetable market at Damnoen Saduak.
