Intrepid rules out surcharges for 2026 bookings

TORONTO — Intrepid Travel is taking a firm stance on pricing stability, confirming it will not introduce additional surcharges on any existing or new bookings made in 2026.

The move comes as fluctuating fuel, currency and operational costs continue to impact the broader travel industry, with some operators signalling potential price increases. Intrepid says its approach is designed to give travellers and travel advisors greater confidence at the time of booking.

“Travel should feel exciting, not uncertain,” says Christian Wolters, President of Canada at Intrepid Travel. “We know confidence matters when booking a trip, and that starts with clarity on price. Our focus is on delivering incredible, locally led experiences without unexpected add-ons or last-minute increases.”

Under the policy, the price confirmed at booking will remain unchanged, with Intrepid absorbing additional costs wherever possible rather than passing them on to customers.

The company says the decision reflects a broader commitment to transparency and value, while also making it easier for travellers to commit to future trips in an uncertain economic environment.

“At its core, this is about doing right by our customers,” adds Barnes. “We believe in being upfront, standing by our pricing, and giving travelers the confidence to book their next adventure.”

In addition to price certainty, Intrepid is emphasizing its flexible booking conditions, which include low deposits, clear cancellation policies and straightforward payment timelines. Specific terms, deposits and cancellation conditions may vary depending on the region and type of trip.

The no-surcharge commitment applies to Intrepid’s tour and flight-inclusive packages only, but excludes Polar expeditions and tailor-made arrangements. International airfare, which is typically not included in Intrepid trips, remains subject to airline pricing and policies when booked separately or through third-party providers.
