TORONTO — No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That really is a food truck parked in the middle of Terminal 3 at Toronto Pearson.

A grand opening celebration was held last week for Smoke’s Poutinerie’s newest mobile eatery, which is parked inside International Arrivals. Operated by HMSHost and launched in cooperation with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), the truck literally brings the great outdoors to travellers right inside the airport, offering diners a large variety of poutiness loaded with top-of-the-line ingredients.

Can’t choose between the Chicken Bacon Ranch or the Chipotle Pulled Pork? What if we told you there’s also a Butter Chicken poutine, and a Nacho Grande? Decisions, decisions!

And in true Canadian fashion, the food truck is decked out in lumberjack plaid and uses potatoes that are grown, picked and shipped from the company’s own farms in Prince Edward Island. Quality cheese curds are sourced from – where else – Quebec.

“It’s our goal to be in every airport, in every city and every country in the world,” said Ryan Smolkin, CEO of Smoke’s Poutinerie. “Toronto Pearson Airport is the perfect location to launch our Poutinerie partnership with HMSHost and our very first Smoke’s Poutinerie restaurant in the travel industry. It’s only a matter of time until Plaid Nation Fans can get their poutine fix in airports globally.”

Until then, Toronto Pearson will be known for being an official gateway to Poutineville. We can’t think of a better way to give travellers from around the world a hearty Canadian welcome!
