TORONTO — Next time you board a plane, you may want to consider bringing an extra cleaning cloth or two.

According to a new survey by international dating site saucydates.com, the Mile-High Club isn’t just a myth, it’s a common occurrence. The survey polled 11,179 people, of which 5% said they’ve had sex on a plane. Of those 5%, 37% said they fooled around with their partner, 18% said they hooked up with an airline staff member, and another 30% said they did the deed with a complete stranger.

Where are all these sexual exploits taking place? There’s only so much privacy to be had on a plane, after all.

Not surprisingly, six in 10 (59%) of intimate encounters took place in the plane’s bathroom, while three in 10 (31%) of hook-ups occurred in seats (to which we say, ewww!). Perhaps most shocking was the fact that one in 10 (9%) went down in the galley, you know, next to all the food.

The average sexy-time rendezvous lasted 10 minutes. Less than 5% of exploits lasted an entire 30 minutes! (That’s a long time to be in a cramped bathroom.)

For anyone thinking about joining the Club, be warned – the risk of getting caught is relatively high. 14% of couples who ‘got busy’ during day flights were caught red-handed, while 15% of frisky duos on night flights were eventually found out.

And don’t even pretend that you’re not thinking about it. According to the survey, a whopping 78% of people are interested in gettin’ down and dirty on a plane!
