“It will not make a big difference for my clients”: Agents react to Swoop rumours

Swoop adds nonstop flights to Varadero from Toronto

CALGARY — Swoop has announced seasonal, nonstop service between Toronto and Varadero starting Jan. 11, 2023.

“We’re thrilled to be announcing an expansion in the Caribbean, adding Varadero to our growing list of vacation destinations,” said Tia McGrath, Swoop’s Leader, Distribution and Sales. “Cuba tops the list for Ontarians seeking an affordable beach getaway and we’re proud to reaffirm our commitment to the region with more ultra-convenient and ultra-low fares.”

Packages are available through Swoop Getaways, she added.

Lessner Gomes, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Canada, said his team welcomes the new lift. “We are thrilled to welcome Swoop flights to Cuba, we are excited with this new partnership which means more capacity to Cuba from Canada. In this price sensitive market, Swoop’s ultra-low cost structure will make it easier for Canadians to enjoy beautiful Cuba this winter,” said Gomes.

As part of its expanding winter schedule, Swoop will also restart service to some of its most popular sun routes. The ULCC will offer nonstop flights to Cancun out of London, ON starting Dec. 3, and to Orlando (Sanford) on Dec. 4. Swoop will also restart service to Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) from both Toronto to Dec. 8 and Hamilton on Dec. 9.

Swoop has also increased the frequency of flying on many of its existing routes, with daily flights from Toronto to Cancun and Las Vegas and near-daily flights to Montego Bay and Punta Cana.
