Sunwing launches Manzanillo program with flights from multiple Canadian gateways

TORONTO — Sunwing has introduced a new Mexican destination to its winter lineup – Manzanillo.

Popular with Canadians for its Spanish colonial charm and picturesque views, Manzanillo is located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, just south of Puerto Vallarta.

“We are always looking for new destinations which offer great resorts and interesting local experiences while representing good value to our customers,” said Andrew Dawson, Chief Operating Officer, Sunwing Travel Group. “With its unique setting, Manzanillo is one of Mexico’s best kept secrets.”

Manzanillo is home to several world-class golf courses, and luxury yachts can be seen visiting the busy port and harbour. The charming old town features many restaurants, shops and churches built into the steep rise of the towering Sierra Madre mountains, offering dramatic views from the resort area. Once a fishing village, the area is renowned for sail fishing, while deep-sea fishing excursions are easily arranged.

Sunwing will operate weekly nonstop flights to Manzanillo from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, with the first flight departing from Toronto on Nov. 15, 2014.

Resort offerings include the all-inclusive Barcelo Karmina Palace Deluxe with a relaxed and romantic setting perfect for a couple’s getaway, while also offering great facilities for families, such as a mini club and waterslides. The hotel has 324 luxury suites, all with garden or ocean views of the private bay of Karmina. There are six swimming pools connected by waterfalls, as well as a full-service spa. The hotel features four themed restaurants, in addition to its main buffet restaurant, allowing guests to experience a wide range of culinary delights.

The Grand Isla Navidad Resort is situated on the beautiful island of Isla Navidad in Manzanillo, facing the lagoon. This family-friendly Sunwing SMILE resort features 199 guestrooms, all with satellite TV, as well as three pools, a spa tub, a fitness centre, a kids club and complimentary WiFi in its rooms and suites. Located near the Isla Navidad Golf Course and close to the Barra de Navidad beach, the hotel also offers a golf bonus with select room categories.

A 7-night all-inclusive vacation package to Manzanillo staying at the 4-star Barcelo Karmina Palace Deluxe in a Junior Suite Deluxe room is available for $1,055 plus $392 taxes per person based on double occupancy departing from Toronto on Saturdays between Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.
