Sunquest’s 2011-2012 Southern Sun brochure now online with Ruby Service, enhanced Clubs, new exclusives

TORONTO — Sunquest’s 2011-2012 Southern Sun brochure is now available online at and will be delivered shortly across the country.

Packed with photos and information designed to make it easier to sell Sunquest, this year’s brochure also features many new additions and a range of new enhancements.

“Sunquest’s motto is Great Vacations Start Here and this brochure certainly lives up to that,” said Steve Butchart, Vice President of Sunquest. “A great resource and planning tool for anyone looking to travel south, the brochure is a great overview of what our Winter 11/12 program has to offer, including a number of items we are particularly excited about.”

There are new enhancements to Sunquest’s Club Concepts, which were launched last year.

“We received lots of great feedback about our Club Concepts product and so this year we’ve further refined and streamlined it, and added more resorts into the mix,” said Butchart. “Now when a customer selects a Sunquest Plus, Family First or Elite resort, they will receive even more exclusive features and added value offerings, all of which are listed on the applicable hotel pages in the brochure.”

These clubs are in addition to Sunquest’s exclusive Club Diamond at Bahia Principe resorts in the Riviera Maya (Gran Bahia Principe Tulum), Punta Cana (Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro), Puerto Plata (Bahia Principe San Juan) and new this year Club Diamond at Gran Bahia Principe La Romana and Club Diamond at Gran Bahia Principe El Portillo (in La Romana and Samana, respectively) and just announced, Club Diamond at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica (which was added after the brochure went to print but details are available online at

Another new addition this year is Sunquest’s ‘Ruby Service’ aboard Thomas Cook Canada flights. In celebration of Sunquest’s upcoming 40th or ‘Ruby’ anniversary, this upgrade costs $79 per person roundtrip for departures out of airports that feature Plaza Premium Lounges and $69 per person roundtrip from all other Canadian gateways.

The service includes such features as: complimentary advance seat selection, a Park ‘n Fly discount, priority check-in, priority baggage handling, up to 10kg in additional baggage allowance, Plaza Premium Lounge access (where applicable), priority boarding, a $10 duty free discount voucher, a complimentary headset, two complimentary alcoholic beverages, two complimentary snack vouchers, a complimentary comfort kit and complimentary Sunquest luggage tag.

Some of the other stand-outs for Sunquest’s 11/12 winter program include:

  • The return of many favourites including the Azul Beach in Riviera Maya, Ocean Sand by H10 and the Grand Paradise Bavaro in Punta Cana, Casa Marina Beach Resort in Puerto Plata, Ocean Coral by H10 ,Gran Melia Cancun, Barcelo Maya Caribe in Riviera Maya, Occidental Xcaret, Breezes Resort, Spa & Casino in Curaçao, Sunset Grande and Sunset Beach in Jamaica, Ocean Breeze in Riviera Nayarit, the brand new Westin Resort & Spa in Costa Rica, Villas Sol in Costa Rica, and many more;

Finally, for customers travelling with Sunquest out of Toronto and Vancouver, they can now pre-book the Plaza Premium Lounge for $25 per person (if they decide not to purchase the Ruby Service upgrade, which includes lounge access at both airports, among many other extras).

This brochure also features resorts that have been recognized by Travelife, an industry-wide program designed to encourage hotels and suppliers to manage their sustainability impacts, recognizing them with Bronze, Silver or Gold awards, depending on their score.

The 40th anniversary celebration events kick off at the Thomas Cook Big 4 product launches this summer (Aug. 22 in Toronto, Aug. 23 in Montreal, Aug. 24 in Calgary and Aug. 25 in Vancouver).
