Summer runs longer in Myrtle Beach with ’60 More Days of Summer’ campaign

MYRTLE BEACH — The Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina kicks off its annual ‘60 More Days of Summer” campaign on Sept. 1. This year, the focus will be on wellness and relaxation—all easily attainable on the area’s 60 miles of sun-soaked beaches.

The campaign, which runs through October, features a myriad of wellness and adventure offerings. Visitors can enjoy surfing, high ropes courses, cable wake boarding, inland kayaking, spa services, local and sustainable cuisine, and serene natural settings, to name just a few. Special offerings for the fall season include complimentary weekly beach yoga and meditation zones appealing to all five senses.

Area resorts and hotels will also offer exclusive wellness-focused packages and deals to appeal to the health-conscious traveler, including up to US$200 in spa credits with a minimum two-night stay at the newly renovated Marriott at Grande Dunes; unlimited yoga and fitness classes, daily health-conscious breakfast, a facial and a massage with a two-night minimum stay in a two-bedroom villa at Kingston Resorts; and a facial massage, 60-minute full-body massage and daily breakfast with a two-night minimum stay at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes.

“The Myrtle Beach area has long offered robust wellness experiences that appeal to the adventurous and health-focused traveler,” said Scott Schult, executive vice president of marketing at Visit Myrtle Beach. “What our 60 More Days of Summer campaign does is simply shine a light on this offering while creating a reason to travel right now: undeniable affordability combined with the appeal of the fall season, with its summer-like temperatures, warm ocean waters and more peaceful ambiance.”

During September and October, the Myrtle Beach area will offer weekly, complimentary Vinyasa yoga on the beach each Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Yogis are invited to meet and park at Shanti Yoga Studio at 7901 N Ocean Blvd #5 in Myrtle Beach, before walking to the 79th Ave beach access. Class will be offered in the studio in the event of inclement weather. No prior experience is needed. Participants should bring a beach towel and water.

Additionally, meditation zones will be located throughout the area, with instructions to download a complimentary guided meditation appealing to all five senses, created exclusively for these locations in partnership with local yoga instructor and meditation expert Dawn Yager.

Weekly bicycle excursions will also be offered, with interested cyclists meeting at Pee Dee Bicycle Company (1600 Farrow Pkwy B1, Myrtle Beach) on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and travelling around the Market Common area. Participants must bring their own bicycle or can rent one during the shop’s normal business hours. The group will ride approximately 10 miles round trip.
