Storm could ramp up to a cyclone near Barbados, Saint Lucia

TORONTO — A storm brewing off the coasts of Barbados, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a 90% chance of ramping up to a cyclone within the next 48 hours.

The Windward and southern Leeward Islands, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba and the northern coast of South America could all be impacted.

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) was part of a meeting yesterday focused on contingency plans. “We are in the peak hurricane season and therefore expect that systems are still likely to develop which may threaten several of our participating states,” said Ronald Jackson, Executive Director, CDEMA.
