Skål International postpones 2015 Mombasa Congress

The Executive Committee of Skål International, in conjunction with the Chairman of the Kenya Local Organising Committee, has decided to postpone the 2015 Mombasa Congress until 2018 and select a new venue and date for 2015. “As a consequence of feedback from the global membership of Skål International, the world’s largest travel and tourism organization, whose membership is made up of senior executives in the global travel and tourism industry, with 16,500 members in 85 countries, it is evident that to hold a congress in Mombasa at this time will not achieve the desired result of Skal members meeting, debating and enjoying the sight and sounds that only the Kenya Coast can provide,” said a statement. “The prevailing opinion is the necessary quorum may not be reached given the continued insistence of governments to place travel advisory notices to specific areas of Kenya where the Congress was to be held.” The new venue for the 2015 World Congress will be the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain. The exact area of the Costa del Sol and the Congress dates will be announced by the end of May and a full congress package will be available for members by June 20.
