SITA’s letter to agents includes policy and commission updates

TORONTO — SITA World Tours is reassuring both travellers and travel agents about its flexible terms and conditions and protected agent commissions.

In a letter penned by its management team, the company urges the agent community to contact their SITA Travel Advisor for any questions regarding existing bookings departing within 60 days.

It also says that it has been successful in protecting agent commissions and clients’ travel investments by postponing departures and changing destinations.

For departures outside 30 days, SITA has temporarily modified its terms and conditions to encourage future travel. Deposits for new bookings have been reduced by 50% to $250 per person while final payment due dates have been reduced from 60 days to 45 days before departure.

For series departures prior to May 31, 2020, clients can defer travel without penalty.

If clients cancel their land arrangements between March 1 and May 31, 2020, they may use the cancellation fee as a credit towards a future booking.

“The current worldwide health situation is fluid,” reads the letter. “We are committed to our partnership with the retail agent community and will assist you in evaluating each booking arrangement in detail and based on the current conditions.”
