A second Scenic Eclipse ship is coming in 2020

VANCOUVER — It’s coming: Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has announced that its second Eclipse ship will make its grand debut in 2020.

Following huge interest in its soon-to-launch, six-star Scenic Eclipse, the company is now adding a sister ship – Scenic Eclipse II – to “strengthen Scenic’s position as the leading innovator in the cruise industry.”

Scenic Eclipse II will embark on its maiden voyage from Athens to Lisbon before its debut sailing season, which will include the European and Russian Arctic, a region that’s well suited for Scenic’s expedition ships.

Building of the new ship will commence next year in Pula, Croatia where Scenic Eclipse is currently under construction. Scenic Eclipse II will be similar in design, and will boast 114 all-verandah suites, nine restaurants, eight lounges and bars, a luxury spa, fitness areas, indoor, outdoor and plunge pools, a marina deck, helicopters and even a submarine.

The Eclipse fleet will utilize state-of-the-art technology, including zero-speed stabilizer fins that are 50% larger for greater stability. Ships will also have a rating of Ice Class 1A (Polar Class 6), the highest of any luxury vessel, which will ensure the safest navigation through polar waters. Passengers can also rest assured that ships will feature special ‘Safe Return to Port’ capabilities, guaranteeing essential systems remain operations in the unlikely case of an incident.

Scenic Eclipse is slated to debut on Aug. 31, 2018.
