Scenic celebrates keel laying of Scenic Eclipse II

VANCOUVER — Scenic Cruises is celebrating the latest milestone for its newest ship, Eclipse II, sister ship to Scenic Eclipse and its second Discovery Yacht due to launch in the Mediterranean in the first quarter of 2023.

A keel-laying ceremony took place on May 12 in Rijeka, Croatia, which was attended by Scenic Group owner and founder Glen Moroney as well as Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.

“Two years ago we launched the most luxurious and technologically advanced polar cruise vessel ever built,” said Moroney. “The great success achieved by Scenic Eclipse and our guests’ continuous praise reaffirmed our desire to launch a sister ship – Scenic Eclipse II. At Scenic Group, we are proud to continue to invest in new ventures that demonstrate our unwavering belief in the future of the industry and, indeed, Scenic’s leading position within that.”

Upon completion the newest Discovery Yacht will navigate both polar and tropical regions and will be 551 feet long, 71 feet wide and accommodate 228 guests in six-star, all-inclusive luxury. With an onboard staff-to-guest ratio of almost 1:1, there will be an abundance of personal space to allow for social distancing and upwards of 10 intimate dining options.
