Sandals Royal Bahamian set to close Aug. 15 for two months

TORONTO — Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort is closing Aug. 15 for two months, “due to circumstances beyond our control,” said Gary Sadler, Senior Vice President of Sales, Unique Vacations, Inc. The resort has experienced labour issues recently with its unionized employees.

In a letter to travel agents, Sadler said the closure of the Bahamas property was temporary and gave an estimated reopening date of Oct. 13.

“We appreciate your patience as we work through this challenging time,” said Sadler. “We have instituted a streamlined and efficient course of action for those guests who may be affected and are extending all of our call centre resources to you, including a 24-hour hotline. Beginning today, a call centre agent will be contacting you directly to discuss some of the alternative options available.”

These options include:

  • Rebooking at another Sandals Resorts or Beaches Resorts in an equal or better category for the same time period
  • Rebooking for a later date at no penalty
  • Absorbing all airline change fees
  • Extending two complimentary nights to any Sandals Resorts stay. (Valid for one year from your original stay and based on availability).

A 24-hour hotline is available, at 1-800-965-2364. “We are committed to ensuring the best possible care of your customers and ours,” he added.
