Saint Lucia Tourism Authority announces 2022 Global Piton Award winners

TORONTO — The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) honoured its best-selling travel advisors at the 2022 Global Piton Awards in Saint Lucia last week.

Top-producing Saint Lucia Expert Travel Advisors from Canada, the U.S., the UK, Ireland and the Caribbean were invited to attend the high-level event.

The weekend culminated with an award ceremony at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, where the top 35 top-producing travel advisors were honoured for selling Saint Lucia.

Travel advisors who booked over 400 room nights within the last 2.5 years through the Saint Lucia Expert (SLEx) Program were celebrated on the island with an immersive VIP experience.

The SLEx program is a comprehensive educational resource with free membership for travel advisors interested in selling Saint Lucia to their clients at an expert level of knowledge.

From expedited VIP services at the airport to a private cocktail reception at the Prime Minister’s official residence, travel advisors experienced the destination firsthand with personalized experiences, including a catamaran cruise to the Pitons, the Luxe Lucian Lime, and a visit to the world-renowned Friday Night Gros-Islet Street Party.

The 2022 Global Piton Awards awarded 35 travel advisors from around the globe, including Canada (5), the Caribbean (5), the UK (10), and the U.S. (15). All travel professionals received the ‘Mark insignia’ of Saint Lucia along with a locally handcrafted trophy and VIP experience.

Says Lorine Charles St. Jules, CEO, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority: “At a time when the world looked to tourism as the main economic driver, our travel advisors and carriers placed special confidence in Saint Lucia. A major part of our success and global prominence is attributed to their continued selling of our island’s offerings. They undoubtedly remain the pulse of our industry, and we are delighted to express our most heartfelt appreciation.”

The Canadian winners at the 2022 Global Piton Awards were …

  • Sharon Boissonneault, House of Travel

  • Alexandra Maloney, Glenny Travel
  • Kim Hartlen, Kim Hartlen Travel – TPI
