RIU parties with 300 guests to celebrate 25th anniversary

GUADALAJARA — It was a night to remember for RIU Hotels & Resorts and 300 of its guests during an epic 25th anniversary celebration earlier this week.

On Jan. 12, the hotel chain hosted a huge party at the Riu Plaza Guadalajara hotel, with CEOs Carmen and Luis Riu and Tourism Secretary for Mexico Miguel Torruco Marqués heading up the festivities.

The event kicked off with cocktails on the pool terrace and a performance by the renowned Mariachi Corona band, followed by an elegant dinner at Guadalajara Hall. During pre-dinner speeches, Carmen Riu highlighted the importance of Mexico as a destination and expressed the company’s deep gratitude. Mexico is RIU’s top international destination, where its first property – Riu Yucatán Playa del Carmen – opened its doors in 1997. Today, the company has 22 hotels and 13,000 rooms across five states: Baja California, Sinaloa, Jalisco, Nayarit and Quintana Roo.

Following dinner, the famed Riu Party kicked off with music, dancing, acrobatics, light shows, cold fireworks and confetti, marking the first time since its launch in 2018 that it left the confines of RIU’s hotels. Guests were able to experience 15 minutes of what the Pink Party, White Party, Neon Party and Jungle Party entail for RIU guests. Just as in the 20 hotels where Riu Parties are held, guests danced with balloons and glow sticks while listening to the Live Band Covers concert.

Mexico is currently RIU’s third largest target market, with over 800,000 guests in 2022. For more information go to www.riu.com.
