Applications open for ACTA’s 2027-2028 advisory committees

TORONTO — ACTA is inviting its members to help shape the association’s priorities by joining one of its advisory committees for the 2027–2028 term.

The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) is accepting applications for its Independent Travel Advisor (ITA) Committee, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Committee and Regional Advisory Committees (RACs).

The ITA Committee focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing independent travel advisors, with members contributing to initiatives related to advocacy, education and professional development.

The DEIA Committee works to advance a more diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible travel industry, with members contributing to initiatives focused on awareness, cultural competency and accessibility and helping incorporate DEIA principles across ACTA’s programs and activities.

ACTA’s Regional Advisory Committees provide a forum for members to share regional perspectives, identify emerging issues and help the association respond to the needs of travel agencies and travel advisors in their regions and across Canada.

MEMBER PERSPECTIVES

According to ACTA, committee membership provides members with an opportunity to share their expertise on issues affecting travel professionals, represent their agency or business model, network with professionals across the country, support and mentor fellow travel professionals and contribute to ACTA initiatives.

The association said it is committed to ensuring its advisory committees reflect the diversity of Canada’s travel industry, including a broad range of business models, experiences and perspectives. It is particularly encouraging applications from members who can bring fresh perspectives and diverse viewpoints.

TWO-YEAR TERM

The 2027–2028 committee term will run for two years beginning in January 2027. Committee members can expect approximately two virtual meetings per year, with additional meetings scheduled as needed, along with opportunities to provide input on issues and developments affecting travel agencies and travel advisors and respond to requests for feedback on topics relevant to their committee.

Applications must be submitted by Nov. 23, 2026, with committee selections expected in December 2026.

Members can express interest in one or multiple committees and indicate their preferences on the application form.

Membership in ACTA is required to serve on an advisory committee.
