Possible UFO spotted over Arizona by two pilots

ALBUQUERQUE — This may very well be one time when it’s not a bird or a plane, but something not of this world.

CNN reports that two commercial pilots flying two separate planes over the Arizona desert saw an unidentified flying object pass above them. The first, a Learjet pilot, radioed the regional air traffic controller in Albuquerque on Feb. 24, asking if anything had passed above the plane 30 seconds prior. The air traffic controller replied with “negative”.

A few minutes later, that same FAA controller alerted American Airlines flight 1095 about the possible sighting. The following is the recorded exchange between the controller and the pilot, which was released by the FAA:

FAA controller: “American 1095, uh, let me know if, uh, you anything pass over you here in the next, uh, 15 miles.”

AA pilot: “Let you know if anything passes over?”

FAA controller: “American 1095, affirmative. We had an aircraft in front of you that reported something pass over him and, uh, we didn’t have any targets. So just, uh, let me know if you see anything pass over you.”

The AA pilot responded shortly after, saying he too had seen something fly overhead:

AA pilot: “It’s American 1095. Yeah, something just passed over us. I don’t know what it was, but at least two, three thousand feet above us. Yeah, it passed right over the top of us.”

When reached for comment, an FAA spokesperson suggested that the object could have possibly been a high-altitude weather balloon. But the American Airlines pilot described the object as having “a big reflection” that was travelling several thousand feet above the plane in the opposite direction, and that he wasn’t sure “whether it was a balloon or whatnot.”

Could these two pilots have seen an actual UFO? Or was it just a weather balloon, or perhaps a military aircraft? What do you think?
