Porter celebrates launch of YYZ-YYC flights

Porter Escapes no longer available as Porter eyes reboot for warm weather destination packages

TORONTO — Porter Airlines has stopped selling Porter Escapes packages as of earlier this week.

A spokesperson from the airline told Travelweek that “no new packages are being sold through this channel, effective immediately” but that “all trips currently booked for future travel will be honoured.”

A new version of vacation packages that includes Porter flights will be sold in the future, with a focus on warm-weather vacation markets that appeal to Canadians. According to the spokesperson, “Porter is refocusing its vacation packages offering on sun destinations that Canadians traditionally visit in locations such as Mexico and the Caribbean.”

“These will become available at a later date in conjunction with Porter flights, although no specific timeline is confirmed,” said the spokesperson, who added that the decision to suspend Porter Escapes is part of the airline’s current evolution from a regional carrier to one that has presence throughout North America.

Nothing is required for existing bookings. Travel advisors are also being directly communicated with. For questions regarding existing reservations, contact Porter’s Travel Planners at 1-855-372-1100 or info@porterescapes.com.

Porter Escapes first launched in December 2012 with flight and hotel packages to Porter Airlines destinations. Porter Escapes were available in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, Halifax, St. John’s, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Timmins, Windsor, New York (Newark), Chicago (Midway), Boston, Washington (Dulles) and seasonally to Mt. Tremblant, Myrtle Beach and Burlington, Vt.
