Porter arrives on Canada’s west coast with launch of Vancouver flights

VANCOUVER — Porter Airlines is celebrating its first flights with its new E195-E2 aircraft between Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Porter’s first flights to Vancouver took to the skies yesterday, Feb. 7. While Porter’s new E195-E2s officially launched last week on flights to Ottawa and Montreal, the Vancouver flights mark Porter’s arrival in western Canada.

Service on the Toronto Pearson-Vancouver route begins with one daily, nonstop return flight, increasing to three daily roundtrip flights by March 22.

More of Porter’s E195-E2 flights launch from Pearson begin this month. Next up is Edmonton (Feb. 14), Calgary (Feb. 22) and Halifax (Feb. 23).

More destinations will be announced throughout 2023, says Porter. The E195-E2 can reach every key market in North America, including the west coast, to Mexico and the Caribbean. As part of its massive expansion plans announced in July 2021, Porter has ordered up to 100 E195-E2s, including 50 firm deliveries scheduled to arrive over the next two years.

Porter is debuting the E195-E2 for North American travellers, featuring a 132-seat, all-economy, two-by-two configuration, and free, fast WiFi for every passenger.

Travelweek recently took part in a preview flight on Porter’s new E195-E2 aircraft. Click here to read all about it, plus insights from Porter’s President and CEO, Michael Deluce on why the airline has set out to redefine economy class air travel.

Porter offers two fare categories: PorterClassic and PorterReserve. With PorterReserve, passengers get dedicated airport check-in, early boarding, enhanced legroom, two checked bags and the ability to change flights without a fee.

“Today’s flights between Toronto Pearson and Vancouver are the first opportunity for passengers to experience what Porter is offering for the economy traveller,” said Deluce yesterday. “It’s a level of service that is unheard of for North American airlines. It will appeal to business and leisure travellers who appreciate an elevated level of service at a reasonable price.”
