[PEOPLE] WestJet’s Mike Miguel retires as Manager Business Development – Canada

CALGARY — Mike Miguel, Manager Business Development – Canada for Westjet, has retired after 14.5 years with the company.

In an official statement, WestJet attributes Miguel for making “significant and key contributions to WestJet, Encore and WestJet Vacations sales”, and applauded his “desire to see the airline succeed and grow in Canada” as well as his “desire to see WestJet expands its footprint and become a global airline.”

Miguel was one of the first sales managers at WestJet, where he managed all types of sales business and revenue units, as well as strategy. Working with over 100 different partners, Miguel was known for his insights about the market and his “creative and effective approach to getting results,” said WestJet.

Prior to his time at WestJet, Miguel spent 27 years in aviation with both Eastern Airlines and American Airlines.

“Mike, you definitely were a good friend to many colleagues, a leader in providing the airline a global view, and teacher supporting a broader perspective,” said the statement, which was signed by ‘Leadership at WestJet Airlines’.
