Now open: Santo Domingo Marriott Hotel Piantini

SANTO DOMINGO — Marriott Hotels has made its grand debut in the capital of the Dominican Republic with the opening of Santo Domingo Marriott Hotel Piantini.

The new hotel, located in the city’s financial and entertainment center near high-end retail stores, restaurants, bars and iconic landmarks, offers 207 guestrooms and suites, each with flatscreen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Designed by renowned Boris Pena Architects, the hotel pays homage to the island’s artistic roots, with modern public spaces adorned with geometric shapes, patterned marble, gold accents and warm colours.

At the heart of the property is Mo’orea, an all-day dining restaurant featuring an inviting indoor space and serving Mediterranean-style cuisine. The Lobby Bar is where to go for a leisurely non-alcoholic refreshment or indulge in after-dinner cocktails. Also on site is M Club, an executive club lounge for Marriott Bonvoy Members with Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite status and guests staying on executive floors, featuring complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and evening cocktails.

Other hotel highlights include the city’s largest ballroom with nearly 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and five breakout rooms that can accommodate large-scale social events, corporate meetings and everything in between. Events for up to 1,000 guests can be comfortably hosted in the Grand Ballroom, which can be divided into three breakout rooms. The foyer provides a direct link between all rooms and also serves as an ideal location for conference registration, breakout sessions, refreshments and exhibitions.

Up on the 21st floor, guests will also find a rooftop pool complete with stunning views of the mountains and the Caribbean Sea. For those wanting to stay fit while away, the fitness centre features the latest cardio equipment as well as a variety of free weights and weight machines.

Room rates start at US$204 plus tax. For more information go to www.marriott.com/sdqmc.
