GENEVA – MSC Cruises has revealed new details about its highly anticipated private island destination in The Bahamas, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Welcoming ships starting this November, the island will offer everything from snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, to a lighthouse light show, an electric tram for easy transport, and even a traditional Bahamian Junkanoo parade.

Just announced will also be deep sea fishing during which guests will learn about the different species of regional fish and how they migrate. With help from Gray Fish, the only tagging research centre in The Bahamas, guests will catch and tag their fish to report information on the specific catch before releasing them back into the water.

For adults only, Rum Rendezvous includes a scenic boat ride to a Bahama bank where they’ll enjoy complimentary rum punch, live music and dancing.

Guests can also opt to rent a Ceclo, considered the ‘luxury yacht of pedal boats’. Made of recycled champagne cork, wood and aluminum, this hot new invention allows guests to explore or simply drift for hours on the water.

Lastly, guests can discover marine life after dark during a Glow Night-time Stand-Up Paddle Boarding excursion. Each board is specially equipped with LED illumination that allows guests to glide on a beam of light across the water.

Family-friendly options on the island include the Ocean Cay Family Club, a family tour aboard a double-decker catamaran to Bahama Banks, as well as the Kids Beachside Stargazing Adventure led by Captain Doremi.

And for couples in search of romance on Ocean Cay, there’ll be the Honeymoon Harbour Stingray Adventure during which they’ll ride a boat to Honeymoon Harbour, and a Sunset Beach Picnic complete with a bottle of wine and a picnic basket filled with snacks.

Starting November, four MSC Cruises ships will call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve on different days: MSC Meraviglia, MSC Seaside, MSC Divina and MSC Armonia.
