Looking ahead: Silversea launches reduced deposit and enhanced flexibility offers

MIAMI — Though travellers aren’t able to cruise right now due to COVID-19, Silversea is encouraging them to book for the future with a reduced deposit offer and expanded cancellation program.

The cruise line has reduced its deposit requirement to Can$1,250 per suite for any new booking made before June 30, 2020. Guests who redeem this offer will also receive US$1,000 Onboard Spending Credit per suite.

The reduced deposit applies to all Silversea voyages with the exception of full World Cruises and Grand Voyages. Guests in possession of a Future Cruise Credit can also use their credit to take advantage of the offer.

To provide added peace of mind, Silversea has also extended the previously announced ‘Cruise with Confidence’ cancellation program to all voyages currently scheduled to depart before Dec. 31, 2020. Under the policy, guests can cancel their cruise for any reason up to 48 hours prior to sailing and receive a 100% future cruise credit for the amount paid, valid for two years from the date of issue.

When guests opt for a future cruise credit and have paid in full, travel agents’ commissions are protected for both the cancelled booking and the future reservation on which the correlating FCC is applied.

As a member of the Royal Caribbean Group, Silversea is assisting travel agents in Canada dealing with the impact of COVID-19 through the RCL Cares program.

RCL Cares highlights key information about economic relief options available to small businesses during this time. Agents can find educational material about recent legislation, and will soon have the opportunity to receive more assistance through an RCL resource desk currently in the works (the program will not provide legal, tax or financial advice).
