NEW YORK — The Martinique Tourism Authority (MTA) has announced Karine Roy-Camille as its new Deputy Director of the Americas Office.

Based in Montreal, Roy-Camille will help ensure the continued implementation of Martinique’s tourism strategy for the entire Americas market, along with New York-based Muriel Wiltord, MTA’s Director of the Americas.

As a former regional councillor Roy-Camille brings with her more than 30 years of experience in Martinique’s tourism sector. She previously served as Commercial Director of SMCR Voyages from 1986-2013, as well as President of the Martinique Cruise Tourism Group from 2008-2010. More recently, she was President of the MTA from 2010-2015, and Director of Tour Operators of Foyal Tours from 2013-2020.

On working to promote Martinique from Montreal, Roy-Camille said: “I am delighted to add a new string to my bow and to participate in the promotion of the island of flowers from Montreal. Quebec has always shown a strong potential for tourism in Martinique. I will work with my new teams to grow this interest and to globally promote and increase the stature of the island not only in Canada but also in the United States and Latin America.”

Roy-Camille’s appointment is part of the MTA’s strategy for the Americas markets, which includes commercial development and the creation of new air services from Toronto and New York. She is credited with helping Martinique’s efforts to join UNESCO’s exclusive World Biosphere Reserves last September, via the Martinique Biosphere Reserve Association, of she is still Vice President.

Bénédicte di Geronimo, MTA’s Tourism Commissioner, said that several other projects already await Roy-Camille, who he has full confidence in.

“I know I can count on the professionalism and determination of Karine Roy-Camille, who will be able to put all her energy and skills to good use in the interests of Martinique in our Americas office.”

François Baltus-Languedoc, MTA’s CEO, added: “We welcome the arrival of a seasoned professional who will be a real asset in the strategy we wish to apply to our priority markets, namely Canada and the United States. Karine Roy-Camille will bring a new wind of change to the business development of Martinique in the Americas.”
