JNTO celebrates success of its first Japan 3D Virtual Expo

TORONTO — The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is heralding the success of its recent Japan 3D Virtual Expo.

The online event, held March 16, brought together industry experts, tourism suppliers and the travel agent community for a special look at all things Japan and travel.

The first of its kind to be offered by the JNTO, the event used new networking technology to give Canadian travel agents across the country the chance to meet one-on-one with Japan’s travel suppliers at their virtual booths, watch presentations by industry leaders, and take part in roundtable discussions.

Says Ken Toyoda, Executive Director of the JNTO’s Toronto office: “I’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone that joined us for the Japan 3D Virtual Travel Expo. We were honoured to welcome the 534 Canadian travel industry professionals who registered to join our suppliers and partners at the event.”

Toyoda added: “As Canadian travellers start making their wish lists for future vacations, we know that Japan’s diverse landscapes, unique experiences, renowned cuisine, and our rich cultural heritage will exceed their expectations.”

The 11 exhibitors in the main hall included the JNTO itself, Tokyo Tourism, airlines and Canadian tour operators offering Japan products.

Three sessions throughout the day included a JNTO seminar addressing the destination’s sustainable tourism initiatives, and presentations from both exhibitors and regional partners from throughout Japan, offering travel agents a chance to become more familiar with all corners of the destination.
