Island Routes introduces self-drive MINI Cooper tours in Jamaica

PROVIDENCIALES — Island Routes, the Caribbean adventure company, has added an exciting new tour option in Jamaica: self-drive MINI Cooper tours in Negril and Ocho Rios!

Travel agents attending the Sandals STAR Awards over the weekend got a sneak peek of the fun new MINI Cooper tour, which will start selling in early 2017.

“We continue to refresh our inventory because, you the travel agent, are asking for it, and the customers are asking for it too,” says David Shields, Vice President, Sales, Island Routes. “Throughout the Caribbean, our business relies heavily on ensuring the consistent presentation of quality products, and we continue to grow our offering in exciting and innovative new ways.”

The unique, self- drive tour features an expert island guide at the wheel of the lead car, taking guests on a journey of the island. Guest drivers will be able to communicate with tour leaders throughout the tour, with cars moving in a convoy to ensure everyone stays together.

“As we all know, size matters. We present to you the MINI Routes – but there is absolutely nothing mini about it!” jokes Richard Moss, Trade Development Manager, Island Routes. “It’s all about the experience, and we are taking you into the community to meet some really, really good people.”

Both tours, Negril and Ochi Rios, will last about six hours. The tour in Negril will cruise along the coast through quaint fishing villages and local hot spots, including  Seven Mile Beach, a historic fort, plus a stop for some grub at a local coconut vendor and jerk shop.  The tour in Ochi Rios will stop by the iconic Dunn’s River Falls, a visit to the Pudding Man, plus visits to fern gully, craft shops and more.

The new tours are positioned as an exclusive new tour option with major ‘cool’ factor that allows guest to travel the island safely, while giving them a chance to engage with the local community.
