Immaculately manicured grounds make Sandals Royal Curaçao a true tropical oasis

CURACAO — Open since June 2022, Sandals Royal Curaçao provides all the perks Sandals guests know and love, plus it’s set on beautifully located and maintained grounds. It’s truly a sight to behold.

Travelweek recently had the opportunity to visit Sandals Royal Curaçao and experience everything the resort has to offer firsthand.

Upon arrival, one of the first things guests will notice is that the resort’s setting is absolutely spectacular. It’s fairly new – so not entirely unexpected that things would be looking fresh and in good condition – but the landscaping and design efforts found on the grounds take things to the highest level. From the gorgeous flower gardens, to the perfectly green grass, to the beautiful tall palm trees, incredible effort has clearly gone into creating an ideal tropical garden oasis. The care and attention really shines through.

Set amid a plethora of pristine swimming pools, clients are certain to feel happy as they bask in this serene setting, all perched on a 3000-acre estate.

The gardens are on point and so is the ample swimming pool situation. For starters, there’s the two-level infinity pool, surrounded by cabanas and loungers, complete with swim-up bar that overlooks the ocean. Relaxing poolside puts guests in a great mood, dancing as they request songs when the DJ is playing nearby, enjoying drinks and getting to know the other guests.

Nearby is the activity pool where friendly water volleyball games frequently break out. For those who need a bit of peace and tranquility, there’s a quiet pool at one edge of the resort near the spa.

For clients who desire more private swimming alternatives, there are even more options. Many ground floor rooms have walkouts to semi-private pools, and nothing can compare with wading out into these pools from one’s patio first thing in the morning, or when looking for a more private moment. There are also five bungalows with butler service that have private infinity pools that look out upon the ocean. Several room categories have patio tranquility soaking tubs, excellent for unwinding.

Guests are sure to be properly satiated with 11 dining options, eight of which are exclusive to Sandals Royal Curaçao. Some sushi connoisseurs may be weary of Caribbean sushi, but Gatsu Gatsu, with outdoor and air-conditioned indoor seating, delivers a topnotch culinary experience with some truly delectable dishes. Guests can really start their morning right with a lovely à la carte breakfast with stunning views overlooking the water at the very pretty Aolos restaurant. There are also three beachside food trucks that are great when looking to grab some quick food and drink.

Sandals Royal Curaçao is nestled off in the hills, somewhat removed from the busier tourist areas of the island. This allows guests to get some quiet, but they’re not too far away if they’re interested in an excursion to Willemstad, a 30-minute drive, or Mambo Beach or Jan Thiel Beach, both about 20 minutes away. For those so inclined, it’s a good place to catch a boat for the long trip to Klein Island as it’s one of the closer stops for making the journey.

In keeping with Sandals’ standard of excellent service, the staff at Sandals Royal Curaçao is extremely friendly and helpful, forever going the extra mile to assure that everything is just right during a guest’s stay. The playmakers do a great job of getting activities going for those looking for some action, and the staff at the restaurants genuinely go above and beyond with love to make guests feel welcome and at home.

Also of note, Sandals Royal Curaçao has the largest conference space on the island, with 38,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.
