IBEROSTAR reports 29% growth, anticipates “key year” in 2016

TORONTO — IBEROSTAR has had a busy first quarter, according to a company newsletter that included a roundup of key announcements.

From the period of January-March 2016, the hotel company celebrated the opening of IBEROSTAR Playa Pilar, a new five-star stunner in Cuba and the brand’s 11th property in the country. Situated on Key Guillermo, the 482-room resort is part of Iberostar’s Premium Gold category and offers exclusive services to families.

In other news, Grupo IBEROSTAR has continued to grow its hotel business, reporting a 29% growth in 2015 over the previous year. This has positioned the company for a “key year” in 2016, during which the hotel chain celebrates the 30th anniversary of its first hotel opening on the island of Majorca in 1986.

In addition, several new openings are planned in 2016 in Cuba, Marbella, Ibiza, Majorca and Miami, while properties in Spain and Mexico are scheduled for renovations. Most recently, the four-star IBEROSTAR Costa del Sol opened its doors this past March on Andalusia. Situated on the beachfront in Estepona, this marks IBEROSTAR’s sixth hotel in the region.

Also in March, the company introduced its #TakenFromAResort digital ad campaign, which focuses on the idea that travellers want to leave their vacations with unforgettable memories rather than souvenirs. The global campaign launched via social media platforms, top-tier international media as well as travel sites.
