Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto launches phase one of multi-million-dollar renovation

TORONTO — The West Harbour Castle, Toronto has launched the first phase of its $50 million guestroom revitalization project.

Coinciding with the hotel’s 50th anniversary, the renovations are currently underway and will be completed in 2025. The initial phase encompasses the transformation of 450 guestrooms, the majority of which are now available for new bookings. Revitalized rooms feature wood finishes and a colour palette inspired by the hues of Lake Ontario, while the newly expanded gym boasts a Zen-like yoga and meditation studio, complete with Studio by Lululemon.

To align with Westin’s commitment to sustainability, the newly renovated bathrooms also boast a cutting-edge filtration system, reducing the need for disposable plastic bottles. Guests are welcome to bring their own reusable water bottle from home or purchase one featuring a Toronto graphic as a souvenir.

“We are thrilled to unveil a sampling of our fully renovated guestrooms, designed to promote health and wellness, superior rest, sustainability and the connection to our location between Lake Ontario and the bustling city of Toronto,” said Peter Gillis, General Manager of The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto. “These renovations are a testament to our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for our guests, and we look forward to completing the first phase.”

Perched on Toronto’s shoreline, the 977-room hotel was first built in 1975 and is situated close to major attractions like Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena, CN Tower and Exhibition Place. It is also home to Canada’s largest ballroom at 25,000 square feet as well as an urban beekeeping program overseen by the Bowery Project, which also operates the rooftop chef’s garden. Two beehives located on the fifth floor terrace allow the property to cultivate its own honey, minimizing its environmental footprint.

The renovations of the 450 guestrooms will be followed by a modernization of the hotel’s public spaces.
