JAMES, Barbados — Tamarind has reopened on Barbados’ Platinum West Coast following an extensive renovation, completing Marriott International’s multi-year transformation of its seven-property Barbados Collection.
Now operating as Tamarind, Barbados, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, the oceanfront property features 111 refreshed guestrooms and suites, upgraded public spaces and new cultural programming.
Calling the reopening an “incredibly meaningful moment, Gastón Gonzalez, Regional Vice President, Marriott International, Caribbean & Mexico, said: “Over the past several years, we have undertaken an ambitious vision to completely reimagine our portfolio across the island. Tamarind’s reopening and adherence to the Autograph Collection brand represents the culmination of that journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class, all-inclusive experiences under Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of distinctive brands.”
Dining options include Sugar Cane Restaurant, Harvest & Hive, 246 Bar & Restaurant and Sugar Shack. The resort will also be home to Caribbean Restaurant, billed as the island’s first air-conditioned restaurant dedicated exclusively to authentic Barbadian cuisine. Guests staying at Tamarind can take part in the Barbados Collection’s Dine Around Program, which provides access to dining experiences at participating sister properties.
The resort also offers two indoor event spaces and several outdoor venues for meetings, weddings and celebrations, with capacity for up to 400 guests. Other amenities include multiple pools, beachfront areas, motorized and non-motorized water sports and wellness programming.
For families, Tamarind has introduced CAMP Club, an indoor-outdoor children’s space created in partnership with CAMP and Marriott Bonvoy. Activities include local arts and crafts, music and storytelling.
Guests can also take part in rum tastings, Soca dance lessons and pop-up cooking classes featuring traditional Bajan fish cakes.

Tamarind’s reopening marks the completion of the Barbados Collection’s portfolio-wide renovation program.
Waves Resort & Spa, Treasure Beach, The House and Tamarind have all transitioned into Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resorts. Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach now operate as Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resorts, while Colony Club reopened as Barbados’ first property within The Luxury Collection.
Tamarind’s reopening also completes the Barbados Collection’s Lifestyle Stretch, linking The House, Treasure Beach and Tamarind along the West Coast. The offering is further supported by Sandtrap Beach Club, a new beachfront social venue.
As part of Marriott Bonvoy, guests staying at Tamarind and other Barbados Collection properties can earn and redeem points across Marriott International’s global portfolio.
