Holland America stakes its claim for 2019: ‘We Are Alaska’

Earn credits, win a cruise with Holland America’s new training course

SEATTLE — Holland America Line is debuting a new Holland America Line Academy Specialist Training Course that will help agents sell the premium line’s Caribbean cruises.

Called ‘Caribbean, Cuba and Panama Canal: Our Unique Take on Cruising’s Most Popular Sea’, the online course is designed to increase agents’ cruise sales by giving insider tips and tools around itineraries.

It takes 15-20 minutes to complete and includes information about the benefits of a Holland America Line cruise in the region. Plus, agents will learn about the Best.Nieuw.Most.More promotion and gain access to a set of downloadable e-tools to help market Caribbean cruises.

“The Caribbean is the most robust and popular cruising region in the world, and this new course helps our travel partners differentiate the Holland America Line experience and relay to their clients why we should be their vacation of choice in this area,” said Eva Jenner, vice president of sales for Holland America Line. “Beyond traditional Caribbean itineraries we also offer an incredible selection of cruises to Cuba and partial Panama Canal transits, and we will have our newest ship Nieuw Statendam in the region in 2019. The new course walks our travel partners through all of the options so they can sell with confidence.”

The Caribbean course is on Holland America Line’s GoHAL.com platform, giving travel advisors an enhanced training experience featuring Silver, Gold and Platinum reward levels. The new platform encourages travel advisors to complete more courses and earn rewards.

Through GoHAL.com travel advisors who graduate from the Holland America Line Academy Core Course earn Silver level; those who continue on and complete two of the Specialist Training Courses earn Gold, and completing three Specialist Training Courses earns Platinum. In addition to a diploma, lapel pin and luggage tag, rewards include a US$50 shipboard credit on Travel Professional Appreciation or full fares and priority boarding.

As a bonus, any travel advisor who completes a new Specialist Training Course that debuted in 2018, which to date includes “Northern Europe: Its Iconic Cities, Hidden Gems and Scenic Beauty” and the new “Caribbean, Cuba and Panama Canal: Our Unique Take on Cruising’s Most Popular Sea,” will be eligible to win a cruise. The course must be completed by Dec. 31, 2018, to be registered to win the cruise.

By completing the courses, Canadian travel partners earn training credits with the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies.
