Hilton Hawaiian Village celebrates Rainbow Tower’s 50th anniversary with commemorative package

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is feeling pretty golden these days following the 50th anniversary of its iconic Rainbow Tower last month.

The tower is renowned for its Rainbow Mural, a multicoloured-tile mosaic that flanks both sides of the structure. It’s been featured on the silver screen throughout the years in movies like ‘Godzilla’ and the hit TV series ‘Hawaii Five-0’.

At its opening in 1968, it was the largest tile mosaic in the world. After a multi-million-dollar restoration, a redone mural was unveiled in 2014 featuring over 31,000 tiles. Today, it remains a top spot to watch Hilton Hawaiian Village’s weekly Friday Night Fireworks, a nearly 30-year tradition.

On the tower’s iconic status, Debi Bishop, managing director of Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, said: “When you think of Hilton Hawaiian Village, the image of the Rainbow Tower comes to mind. It leaves a lasting impression and becomes part of those great vacation memories. We are honoured to be stewards of this historic tower. It truly has become an icon in its own right.”

Through the end of 2018, Hilton Hawaiian Village is offering its ’50 Years of Aloha Package’, a limited-time offer that combines accommodations in the Rainbow Tower with commemorative amenities and experiences.

The package includes: a room in the Rainbow Tower; two rainbow fedora hats from Anuenue; one beach bag from Anueunue; two complimentary Hawaii Five-0 cocktails from Tropics Bar & Grill or Tapa Bar; a second treatment for US$50 at Mandara Spa with the purchase of any 50-minute massage or facial; buy one snorkel sail, get the second at 50% off on the Spirit of Aloha Catamaran; and buy one specialty commemorative item from DFS Galleria and receive a second one free.
