Hard Rock International says new Malta hotel will open in 2020

ORLANDO — Hard Rock International has announced plans to open its third European resort, Hard Rock Hotel Malta, following recent additions in Ibiza and Tenerife. Hard Rock Hotel Malta will feature 370 rooms including 110 suites offering balcony views.

The upcoming project will be part of a new mixed-use development called db City Centre which includes a shopping mall, luxury residences and modern office spaces, in St. George’s Bay, St. Julian’s.

“Malta draws in travellers from around the world given its central Mediterranean location, idyllic charm, rich cultural history and vast array of activities – from scuba diving to exploring prehistoric temples – and we are thrilled to be part of a project that will provide travellers and locals with the country’s first true entertainment destination,” said Marco Roca, Executive VP of Global Hotel Development at Hard Rock International.

Malta received nearly two million visitors in 2016.

The 19th century British military accommodation building, a key feature of the Hard Rock Hotel Malta’s décor and layout, will be restored to its original design.

To attract both leisure and business travellers, the hotel will offer a wide range of amenities with a multi-course restaurant and a rooftop lounge complete with Skybar. There will be numerous pools along with a 16,000 square-foot full-service Rock Spa and Body Rock fitness centre.

More than 37,000 square feet is planned for functions, creating the largest convention centre on the island.
