Ever evolving, and delighting: The latest from Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa

VIEUX FORT — The winds of change are sweeping through the lush coconut palms of Saint Lucia’s Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa, as this popular all-inclusive resort hotel undertakes its latest endeavor – to renovate its 250 hotel rooms over the next two years.

The resort is also kicking off celebrations for its 19th anniversary this month, with a new community charity commitment.

“New additions will be on going at our hotel,” explained Natalia Greene, VP Sales and Marketing for the resort. “This island only has three chain hotels – Sandals, Zoetry, Royalton – and as an independent and the largest employer in the south, we’re committed to adapting quickly.”

The property’s agility to act on customer recommendations has resulted in notable inclusions such as enhancing the wedding options with the rejuvenation of Eternity Beach, adding a spacious bridal suite adjacent to the wedding planner’s office and expanding the Sanctuary Spa with an additional six outdoor spa cabanas. The hotel also recently unveiled new menus for all restaurants, providing several options for diners seeking vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free.

Nine new rooms are currently completed. Five are in Harmony, the green-hued adults-only section, while four are on offer in Splash, the blue-toned family-friendly section. Newly-renovated rooms are being offered to repeat guests, who are encouraged to share their opinions with the resort on the new style, featuring streamlined rooms, modern furniture, patterned textiles in green and blue, and tiled bathrooms with bathtubs in Splash and large showers in Harmony.

Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa continues to attract accolades, including recently being named as a Good Housekeeping Family Travel Award winner for 2024 and the 2023 World Travel Award for Leading Beach Resort. This past Friday, the hotel announced its newest community project with ABC Funhouse Early Learning Centre. This multi-phase project will remodel the centre including new furniture, flooring, lighting, adding traditional and tech school supplies and exterior updates to the building and playground.

Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa Chairman Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson was on hand to sign the memorandum of understanding with Elsa Joyeux, principal of ABC Funhouse, and during his remarks stated “…we’ve committed to four years and you’ll see magic happen.” The hotel’s CocoLand Cares Committee has donated to over 100 preschools across St. Lucia.

The hotel’s ‘two worlds in one’ concept includes five pools, access to one mile of beach, nine restaurants and seven bars. Younger guests will be spoiled in CocoLand, featuring the island’s largest waterpark with waterslides and lazy river, while also being able to access the fully-supervised Kidz Club, with indoor and outdoor activities offered daily. Older guests can be distracted by beach soccer, pickleball, pool volleyball, basketball, time spent competing at The Zone paintball course or head to the Surf Shack for snorkeling, kitesurfing or windsurfing.

Guests 18+ will appreciate Harmony’s relaxing environment with two pools, coveted suntracker beds, Sanctuary Spa, adults-only dining at Veranda and revelry at Paradise Beach Bar, while families have options at Splash, ranging from three pools, outdoor shaded games area, Flip Flops grill restaurant and a swim up bar with adult and kid drink options.

Additional amenities such as themed dinners on the pool deck, chocolate buffet, silent dance parties and rum tastings showcasing St Lucian spirits, are weekly benefits detailed in the resort’s newsletter The Breeze. Clients will appreciate a stay that includes a Saturday night, when the hotel’s Caribbean night is a tasty dinner buffet of island cuisine and two-hour entertainment extravaganza with steel drums, stiltwalkers and fire dancers. It all culminates in a raucous everyone-can-join carnival parade.

Greene adds that the resort’s themed months, always a big draw, include its 4th Annual Rum & Rhythms Festival from Oct. 19 – Nov. 2, 2024, and a focus on health and wellness in June 2024.

For clients seeking a five-star experience, Serenity at Coconut Bay is adjacent to the main property, offering 36 plunge pool butler suites and exclusive access to the Serenity pool, Serenity Pool Bar and the GreatHouse with dining, private dining and rum bar. Plans to expand Serenity at Coconut Bay are underway and will result in the addition of more suites in the next couple of years according to Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa CEO Mark Adams.
