EasyJet CEO to be interviewed at WTM London 2018

LONDON — EasyJet’s new CEO, Johan Lundgren, has been announced as the addition to WTM London 2018’s jam-packed lineup.

Lundgren will be sharing his plans for the airline’s future in an exclusive one-to-one session with leading airline consultant John Strickland. His appearance, which will take place on Nov. 5 at 4 p.m., underlines WTM London’s commitment to bring the best speakers to the show, as highlighted by its new tagline, ‘Ideas Arrive Here’.

Lundgren, who also once served as the former TUI Group deputy CEO and CEO for mainstream markets, joined the low-cost carrier in December 2018, taking over from Carolyn McCall. He joined at an uncertain and challenging time for the industry, with Brexit looming on the horizon.

During the session, he will discuss easyJet’s preparations for Brexit, as well as other challenges such as regulation and increased competition in the aviation sector. He will also talk about the airline’s continued growth, its renewed focus on business travellers, the introduction of a loyalty program, as well as plans to expand easyJet’s package holiday offerings.

WTM London’s Senior Director, Simon Press, said: “Ideas Arrive at WTM London and a senior executive of Lundgren’s vast experience at TUI and easyJet will give delegates a plethora of ideas on the future of the travel and tourism industry, and how they can develop and evolve their businesses to compete and thrive.”

John Strickland’s one-to-one session with Lundgren is part of the WTM Meet The Travel Leaders series of interviews, which are designed to give delegates a unique insight into challenges and opportunities with the industry. Other sessions will include: David Burling, CEO Markets & Airlines TUI Group, and Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, CEO, Melia Hotels International.

WTM London 2018 is scheduled to take place this year from Nov. 5-7. Registration is now open. For more information go to http://london.wtm.com/.
