TORONTO — Discover the World has expanded its travel representation agreement with CGH Earth Hotels to include the Canadian market.
CGH Earth Hotels is an early pioneer in the low-impact tourism sector. CGH stands for ‘Clean, Green and Healthy’. The company has stepped up its partnership with Discover the World as it looks to expand awareness of its family-owned hotels and health resort clinics, which offer inspiring travel experiences in Southern India.
CGH Earth packages can be specifically created for groups, such as yoga and health clubs.
“CGH Earth Hotels offer a breathtakingly unique window through which travellers can experience the unspoilt natural beauty and culture that is the real Southern India,” says Joanne Lundy, Director Canada at Discover the World.
“And to do so while not only improving their own well-being but also making a positive contribution to the local environment. CGH really do offer a very special way to visit India.”
We asked, for Canadian travel agents who are unfamiliar with CGH Earth Hotels, what are the company’s most compelling selling points?
Here’s what they had to say…
“CGH Earth Hotels offer holidays that combine the vibrant local culture of Kerala with unique experiences in many different properties. The diversity of the CGH Earth ranges from houseboats in the backwaters of Kerala, to a unique one-key 2-bedroom palace in Cochin, to a colonial architectural experience at Brunton Boatyard in Ft. Kochi, to the tribal hut style accommodation in a spice garden at Spice Village, located near the Periyar Wildlife Reserve in the interior.
“The CGH Earth business model is based on sustainable and responsible tourism, with a passion for health and wellness. Every thought and action is born out of this commitment to the environment and the local communities where it operates.
“Within the group of 19 hotels, there are four dedicated to health and wellness where the goal is treating the source of any heath issue, and not the symptoms. Yoga and meditation sessions are available at all CGH properties.
“Kerala in the southwest region of India, is known for its lush greenery and beautiful beaches. Rich with spices and wildlife, this portion of India is truly a hidden paradise. It is surprisingly easy to reach Cochin with a variety of connections available from Canada.”
In all CGH has 19 unique properties in Kerala. The diverse portfolio includes historical leisure properties, houseboats, single key mansions, a dedicated yoga resort and Ayurveda clinics.
Travelweek also asked CGH what it offers agents in terms of commission, product training and agent rates – anything that will help then connect with CGH Earth Hotels and sell it to their clients.
The company told us that in addition to its website, CGHearth.com, agents can take advantage of CGH webinars, product workshops, agent rates and commission. Plus, “CGH works with many Indian DMCs if that is how agents prefer to work.”
Says VP Sales Shilendran Mohanachandran: “It is very important for us to work with partners, like Discover, who share our values and get what we are doing. Our partnership with them has already delivered great success across the U.S., so this is a natural extension into the Canadian travel market.”
Mohanachandran adds that Kerala, on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, is famous for its palm-lined beaches and mountain landscapes, tea and spice plantations, and local national parks offering sanctuary to a diverse selection of local wildlife including elephants, monkeys and tigers.
